I bath my pigs quite regularly, every few months, but my girl Sherbert is just not coming clean. She's a silver and white agouti and all her white patches are getting stained with dirt or wee and even after I've bathed her she gets smelly again very quickly. It doesn't help that her favourite place to sleep is the litter tray. mallethead
I use a general small animal shampoo but have been looking at gorgeous guineas shampoos since I've heard they're very good. Can anyone recommend one that gets white piggies white again and stops them getting wiffy again five seconds after they've been bathed.

I honestly have no idea.

I only washed Arthur the other day and after a day of being back in the cage hes a nice wet yellow after peeing and then later going to sit in his pee.

I have to take him to a rsecue on saturday and I'm wondering if I should wash him again before I go less the rescue lady thinks I'm keeping him in dirty conditions. x.o

I know what that's like, Sherbert's always lying in her wee. rolleyes Maybe you could try just wiping or washing his bum rather than giving him a full bath if you're worried.

Its his belly that it seems to get on and his lower bits but I think I'll definitely do that Friday night. Thanks :)

Well I washed Sherbert using two different types of gorgeous guineas shampoo. She was very well behaved despite having a very long bath and i think from now on i'll wash her seperately to my other two so I can pay extra attention to getting sherbert clean. She's by no means white again but it looks like at least some of the grubby areas are not quite so grubby and her wee stained belly is certainly better. She also doesn't seem too cross with me as she took some little gem lettuce from me then fell asleep in her towel. x)

If they have long hair then shave there bum hair so that it dosnt Get caught up with the wee that's what I do with my long haired piggys
:(|)

i have a silver and white agouti with a white belly but i've found a dry shampoo thats pretty good at keeping him clean, it's just a dry foam shampoo, that means he doesn't have to go through the stress of water everytime, i just get him to stand on his back legs against me, rub the foam in , brush it out, and he stays pretty white (:

That sounds fantastic. Do you have the name of the shampoo or know anywhere I could buy some?

Its made by Johnsons ? the same one that does the other shampoo that most people seem to use ! (:

I got mine in my local pet shop, it wasn't all that expensive and it lasts quite a while !

Haha i always think Bentley just wants to be cream like his brother Chester and thats why he does it, not happy with his piggy race rolleyes

:)) Silly Bentley, silver agoutis are gorgeous. he should be proud to be one.

With Sherbert I think it's a dominant pig thing. She became much lazier when she took over the group, which led to more lying in wee and more grubbiness...

heres the proud but dirty agouti !

Bentley is the more dominant in my pair too, and he's a bit of a cosy sack potato !

I've just looked up the shampoo and found some quite cheap online. xx>>>
