So to my pure dismay I picked up the new bag of burgess from the cupboard opened it put the food in for the pigs. Only to realise that there was a picture of a rabbit and that this was infact rabbit food and not guineapig food . My mum had picked it up by accident what should i do? As its a waste and its so expensive? If i supplement them with plenty of veg with high vitamin C could i get away with just giving them the rabbit food as i cant bear to waste it or waste money. Nightmare!

I keep rabbits and guinea pigs and feed them burgess excel pellets.
I have just compared the ingredients on the back of the rabbit pellets to the piggy pellets, however, I am not knowledgable about the percentages of those ingredients and their effect on the other species. What I can see is that There are things in the rabbit pellets that aren’t in the guinea pig pellets. Not sure whether those things would be harmful to piggies. Aside from the fact that the vit c content lacking in the rabbit pellets, I would also be concerned about the calcium content of the rabbit pellets and whether that would be a problem for piggies.

I find stores to be reasonably accommodating to be honest, where did you get it from? You could always drop them an email and explain your mistake, they might swap it for you. I'm not sure many rescues take opened bags of food, the one I used to volunteer at didnt but its worth asking around if anyone would like it donated to them
