I've had 2 deliveries of hay from the Hay and Straw company and my piggies loved it so I went for a 9.5kg delivery thinking it would last for quite a while. Sadly this batch is dreadful, it's full of extremely stalky hay with lots of brown bits of leaves in it. I know its a natural product, but my piggies will not touch it and there's 9.5kg of it.
As there are other forum members who buy from this company, has any of you had similar deliveries recently? I'm feeling I've wasted my money this time .

Gosh that’s awful ! Have you contacted Hay and Straw company ? I did a similar thing with The Little Hay company and their orchard hay - I think I got an old box that was yellow stale dusty and musty ! I had to fight for a refund.
You could see if any horse owners/ rescues nearby would like it ?
Altho horses can be a bit picky !

Yes, there has been a lot of poor hay in several brands. I've had to throw out a couple of packs as they were disgusting. My little pigs would still nibble on them, but I couldn't stand the stink. It's difficult ordering in bulk.

Thanks for the replies. It sounds like I may not get better hay until the next harvest but I've emailed the company and will wait to se if they reply. There is a fairly new rescue near me so I might offer it to them in the hope their piggies will eat it 🤔

I had some Ings like that from them. Mine would nibble bits of it but there was a lot of waste. In the end I cut the strands up as Ings is very long and used it in the bedding boxes for the piggies that like to sleep in hay and pee in it more than eat it!
I've had 2 not very good deliveries of Natures Own recently, very short dusty and brown. I had a good batch in between those though, it's very hit and miss at the moment.

Hay delivery day is a sad day at the moment☹️ I got sent 2 bags of dust from dust free hay of all places and they would only refund me if I sent it back. The postage would have been nearly £20 so I didn't bother but it's a lot of money to waste. Very annoying!

I got my first ever Ings bag from Hay and Straw last week. I thought it looked ok but don’t really know what I’m looking for! It’s stalky but I thought maybe it was meant to be 🧐 I did see some dry brown leaves but not loads.

I was very impressed with how soft the meadow hay was from them, never seen hay so soft!
