I dont have guinea pigs yet. I'm adopting some from a rescue and went into my local pet shop to get "bits and pieces" they would need. When I bought the water bottle, the girl suggested putting disolvable vitamin C in the bottle. However I can find no mention of this any where in the reams of advice I've been reading online.

Is it safe or recommended?

I wouldn't do it. If you put it in the water you will never be sure of the amount of vitamin C they are really taking, so in the end it will be less than they need to. Plus these kind of things can change the water flavour which can lead your piggies to stop drinking.

The best and safest way of making sure they eat the needed vitamin C is through veggies. Bell peppers do have a lot in them, giving a piece a day will be enough (for the vitamin C, not for eating in general).
