Hi all,

My three piggies (neutered boar and two sows) are currently on fleece/bobble mats, however we recently went on holiday and used Tiny Friends Eco Bedding in their 2x6.5 C&C cage to make life easier for our friends who were caring for them, and we were so impressed by the odour control even after a whole week! However it was £14 for one bag which only covered 3/4 of the cage which is far too expensive to use regularly.

I think we’d like to transition to a 2x2 area of disposable bedding and the rest fleece/bobble mats and we’re unsure which one is best for absorbency, odour control and cost?
I’ve seen lots about Aubiose, Megazorb and Fitch bedding but it’s very difficult to work out how long a bag would last. Does anyone have any recommendations of which one is best, and how long X amount of litres may last?

Thanks in advance! From Primrose, Wilbur and Tessie 😊

I use snowflake soft chip. It is approx a 20kg bale and I use it in four cages - which are two 5 foot hutches, one 6 foot hutch and one 160cm cage. A bale lasts around six weeks and I use it as a layer on the base (a couple of cm thick) and then all topped with hay.
It packs down a bit when they run around on it and I find I can brush poops off the surface and remove wet patches daily and only need fully replace it all once a week.
I get mine from a local farm and pay just £8 for that 20kg bale
