Hello I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me,

I've had my guinea pig Squeak for over a year now and she's always been a good eater until a few months ago. I've always stuck to the same brand and food ever since I got her because that's what the pet shop fed her. It's a dried mix. Then she just refused to eat it and would tip her bowl of fresh food over and squeak for food. So I decided to change her food to another brand and again she did the same so I thought maybe she was under the weather but she was her normal self. So I changed the brand again and still no luck. I now have loads of unwanted guinea pig food and a hungry piggie! Please help me all suggestions are welcome, I just don't know what to do and I'm worried. :ple:

When you say dried mix, do you mean like muesli type dried feed? I was recommended with my vet to feed piggies dried pellets over the mixed feeds as it helps prevent selective feeding.

I don't know if you've tried just pellets, or even if the switch would help at all, but it might be worth considering?

Thanks what I've tried her on and she doesn't eat any of these is:
Moist Guinea Pig + Vitamin C mix ( she always ate this one but stopped)
Harrison's dried pellets
Pets at homes dried mix
Pets at homes pellets

Are you keeping a record of her weight? We recommend the guinea pigs are weighed regularly as this helps to identify if something is wrong. Personally, I would take her to her vet for a check up .

Is your girl a single guinea pig or has she got a companion? Single piggies can be very fussy and capricious out of boredom, as they lack the "I want what you have" incentive.

Please weigh your girl once weekly, as you should as part of her regular health regime. this should give you an answer as to whether your girl is losing weight.

If in any doubt, please see a vet and have her checked.

The food ratios for an adult guinea pig should be 80% hay - 10-15% vegetables - 5-10% pellets.

I actually haven't thought about weighing her so thank you for helping me and I am booking her an appointment to the vets first thing this Monday !

Thank you for your help ! Squeak is a single piggie she's on her own but when she was With Bubbles before she died she never really got on with her. I am now going to start weighing so thank you :)
