I've now successfully bonded my pair of boys who have been in the same 2x4 correx cage fro about 2 weeks now, one is dominant and has a rumble quite reguarly but it never amounts to anything more than that.

I am going away next week for a week and a friend will be coming in daily to feed and check on my babies but other than that they'll be on their own so should I put a divider into the cage just in case? I'd only worry when I was away if I didn't.

Would that make them more likely to fight when I take it out when I get back? I couldn't bear it if I didn't divide it and they had a fight.

How old are they? If they are babies or youngsters, I wouldn't worry too much at all, I'd personally leave them together.

If they are adults that have been recently introduced, I'd be rather more cautious, if the relationship breaks down big time, they could do some nasty damage to each other. In this case, again, personally I'd be loathe to risk leaving them together unsupervised.
In this case, I'd try and put a mesh divide in so that they can still see and smell each other, but cannot cause problems.
It's a shame, but hopefully they would be okay together on your return.

Obviously it is up to you though.

Thanks for your reply, Babara, they're both around a year old and they've only just been introduced in the same cage recently, so would prefer it if I divided the cage for my peace of mind. I can easily divide the cage so they can still touch noses (or bums if they prefer ;) ) so think I will do that.

That's what I would do. Enjoy your break, hopefully it is something nice... and fingers crossed the boys pal up again on your return :)

Thank you, I'm off to New York for the first time, I'm so excited! But I know I'll miss my babies when I'm away, it's amazing how quickly you become a piggy slave :)

I think you should, especially if you're worried something could happen, and that would ruin whatever your doing while your away. I think putting a divider in the C&C is a good idea, so they can still interact and they wont be lonely ;)

good idea! my pig broke his father's paw while we were away once :'(
