I want to take my piggy boy away with me. He has a carry case and has travelled numerous times in cars and a few times on the bus.

I want to take him on a beautiful journey on a train. Do guinea pigs admire scenery the same as we do? I know he won't specifically enjoy a hotel like us humans do but I plan to give him lots of treats and have snuggles and to walk with him on the beach. Is he not going to give a damn about where he is though?

Awww that so sweet. 🥰

Now to crush the dream. lol. Piggies eyesight is the weakest of their senses. So I don’t think they see very far in front of them at all. So in that respect I don’t think your piggy will enjoy that part.

Obviously I don’t know your piggy. But I think it would stress my two out to be out of their normal surroundings for any length of time.

Have a lovely holiday. ❤️

I agree with weepweeps. Unfortunately no they don’t. They would not have a concept of beautiful scenery and it wouldn’t be enriching for him. As weepweeps has said they can only see about 12 inches in front of themselves so he wouldn’t be to see it in any event.
I too would be concerned about stress - piggies need to know they are in their own territory to feel safe and secure. Carrying them around (other than essential journeys - vet appointments etc) for walks would not be recommended.

I hope you have a lovely holiday

Piggies have a very heightened sense of danger because where they are from, everything wants to eat them. They rely on having places to run to and hide in. Being too far from their familiar hiding places and familiar environment can fill them with fear. They can travel well in a spacious carrier with blankets, hay etc, but walking around with them is probably going to make them feel unsafe and uneasy ❤

A lovely dream but a guinea pig nightmare I would think. Mine go back to to the fosterer who looked after them before adoption and seem as happy as they can be if we go away for a few days. Do you have someone you can train in guinea pig ways particularly signs of ill health and what to do who could care for your piggies when you go on your adventures? Guinea pigs don’t roam in the wild they stay in the same place so they know exactly where they are and I think that’s probably what they would like now given the choice. Enjoy your holiday and come home to your piggies who will be really pleased to see you.

@ThePiggyPalace it is a lovely idea but as the advice above has said it would be very stressful for your special boy.
You clearly are a devoted owner and want the best for your piggy. Having someone to care for him while you go off on your adventures would be the best idea 🥰

Hi everyone, thank you for your replies. My dreams of adventure with Teilo Pig are crushed! I had visions of sunsets over the beach in the Lake District. Ah well, he can stay home with his brothers where he is most comfortable. I feel really sad they can't see or appreciate the world like we can. I suppose their 'beautiful world' is good hay, veggies and adventuring through the whole of my upstairs rooms and leaving poops for me to find!

Ah don’t be too sad - Teilo pig is happy and enjoying his ‘beautiful world’ and he appreciates safe surroundings, his brothers and definitely good hay and veggies - that’s all he could ever want 🥰
I’d love to see a pigture of your special ‘piggy boy’ and his brothers.
