Recently my boar and 2 sows have done a lot more rumble strutting, general squeaking, jumping and playing around, and a thing where one pig nuzzles and pushes their face into the side of another pig's face, which they seem to love doing but the pig having it done seems irritated. They're nearly 3. Haven't noticed before them having springtime crazies like this.

Wild guinea pigs don't breed all year round, but have only 3-4 litters between spring and autumn when food is plentiful. Even though our domestic guinea pigs have been bred out from them several thousands of years ago and have babies all year round, they can still have that spring urge, especially when the transition from winter to spring has been very pronounced.

I did not know this! How interesting!

I think it is a natural time for all animals and plants to reproduce, as the old saying - the saps rising!

My pigs will sometimes get frisky in spring and also have a spring shed where it seems like half their coat is coming out! The weird this is they are indoor pigs, I have no idea how their bodies 'know' it's spring, but they seem to know!

I didn’t know that about domesticated piggies.
This could explain why Priscilla has become a lot more lively just recently.
Lots of crazy zoomies
