So earlier today I noticed after I filled up the hay box that my one piggy, Ginger, started to "Hiccup." It looked as if he started to convulse a little bit as he made a noise that sounded like a small cough/hiccup. It only lasted maybe 4 minutes and then it stopped. He has done this about three times before, starting about two months ago. My other piggy Buttercup does not do this at all. I've had them both for a year. Is this something to be worried about? Is it normal? Perhaps I am worrying over nothing!

Yes, guinea pigs can get heaving hiccups when they have swallowed to much air. Hiccups and coughing from eating too greedily should last only shortly after a meal. if it is not a daily occurrance over a long time, you need not worry!

oh ok ahhh that's a relief! He only does this like once a month

This is good to know, I saw Tiana do this the other day while she was eating and at first I thought she was choking, but she didn’t look bothered by it so I assumed hiccups. It lasted about a minute.
