Do Guinea Pigs Only Eat Timothy Hay?

I just wanted to know if guinea pigs need timothy as their only hay source. Would any other type of hay do well? I'm ok with buying them timothy, but I just want to know if there's another hay I can give them. What are your recommendations?
 
Mine have never had Timothy Hay. I use a good quality Meadow Hay and have never had a problem.
 
Meadow hay here as the main source, Timothy for an occasional treat. For piggies (and rabbits, degu etc.) with dental issues feeding only Timothy hay can be a smart move because it's extra high in fibre, so more chewing required, so teeth are worn down that little bit more.
 
Mine have ings from hay and straw (a great online company), meadow and timothy my rabbits have all of them as well.

They also have fresh grass which they adore.
 
I buy hay by the bale as I have a lot of piggies. It is lovely ,good quality hay, although the grass varieties can vary from bale to bale, which I think is a good thing. The hay I have at the moment is very fine and soft and yummy. Sometimes the bales contain timothy hay too.

As mentioned by @acapae timothy hay is useful for animals with dental issues and is also good for overweight rabbits, etc as higher fibre also means lower calories.
 
As a weekly treat I give my piggies a little bit of Sun Salad (dried hays and berries and leaves). I do think there are different cuts of timothy hay you might be able to experiment with too.
 
Mine have Timothy hay most of the time, but I give them a good lot of freshly cut (with scissors) grass every morning too (don't know what I'm going to do about that come the winter). I bought some meadow hay, and I give them this if the Timothy is getting low, but they're not that keen.
 
My two have timothy most of the time but I make hay mixes for them, one for during the day and one for evening so they don't get bored. They have timothy hay, oat hay (short cut because they won't eat long cut :doh:), fescue hay, meadow hay (although ours is rubbish compared to yours over there) and timothy and rye, all just in case because they have been terrible hay eaters in the past so if they like something I will keep feeding it. They get oxbow orchard grass and botanical hay for a treat twice a week.

in winter if we don't find out some great idea we will be murdered by our angry piggies... :san::eek:
 
my sows have normal mountain meadow hay, from different brands; no timothy so far. Fresh grass with some wild dandelion leaves is their main fresh food, especially during the good seasons.
