We have just got back from a weeks holiday and my 2 girls went back to the rescue centre that I got them from whilst we were away as we had no-one to look after them. We've only had them since March and both girls are very nervous. I had worked hard gaining their trust before I went away and one of them, Nugget, was doing really well, she would eat from my hand and would no longer run away and hide when I approached their cage. Poppy was still very shy but she would come out for food and wasn't running away as much. I got them back today and feel as though they have both gone back to square one. I have had Poppy on my knee in her snuggle cosy but she wouldn't eat from me and I couldn't even get Nugget out of the cage! Have they forgotton me 8..., has all my hardwork been in vain or will they be OK in a couple of days?

I'm sure they will be fine once they've had chance to settle back in and realised they're home. Just try acting as you normally would, they'll soon cotton on things are back to normal.

guinea pigs have emotions, they can be up one minute and down the next,we always laugh when people come to pick their guinea pigs up after they have been away on holiday as 99% of the time their guinea pig will snub them completely.
Even if they have had the best time while you were away they have that thought that you left them, you are someone they came to trust and in doing so opened their little world to you, they might have slammed the door shut on you for now but they will come back around so just persevere with them.
