I have been washing the water bottles daily in hot water, no washing up liquid. Is this ok or do i need to use milton or something? I am presuming hot boiled water is enough?

Usually boiling water is sufficient. I rinse it out with Johnsons small animal disinfectant. Sounds you are doing it right.
So long as you don't see any muck in there :tu:

you can wash them daily in hot water like you are, and then sterilise them once a week with milton, or boiled water (if they are glass)

if they are plastic, you can use rice inside the bottle and hot soapy water for the lid and spout. or you can rinse them daily and sterilise them once a week in milton.

some people just use hot soapy water and rinse thoroughly so washing up liquid is probably fine to use aswell :)

I don't sterilise, I just use hot soapy water, making sure it's thoroughly rinsed afterwards!
Like biscandmatt has mentioned, occasionally I need to shake a few grains of rice with the soapy water, which gets rid of any remaining dirt!

I would recommend to sterilise your bottles in Milton's baby bottle steriliser at least once a month and from time to time replace your bottles with new ones, as a lot of gunk can build up in the nozzles due to piggies usually having crud in their mouths.

good point @Wiebke - i buy new bottles every six months or so, even though i can remove the spout from the lid on mine (the biba savic ones).. i started doing this after i saw what gets inside there! it wasn't pretty :)) even with regular cleaning
