Sometimes I wonder, other times there's no doubt in my mind. I go sit with the girls at random times when i'm studying these days, and sometimes they are just the darnest cutest piggies and other times i wanna come in between them.
Important to not: Never has blood been drawn!
From the start i could tell Panda was the boss, she was a week or 2 older, much braver. Lemon the scardy cat was alright with that. They've always been fine until recently. Today I observed much "harsher" behaviour than usual.
Everytime Panda comes even near Lemon, lem just start squicking, pretty high but nothing bad. There were 2 reactions either panda ignored her and kept running along the cage, or she went in for contact, if that happened Lem would almost immediately turn her butt towards Panda and usually start squeaking very high pitched. Pan either decides that's enough or pushes a bit on and then you could say there is "fighting" but idk, it's hard to describe, they let each other alone pretty darn quickly. During all this pan is kinda 'humming' (this is the translation i got whatever) it's a very low vibrating sound. More like a growl (?) but at the same time, they keep pulling towards each other even though they got plenty of space and 3 different feeding places so it's not like they HAVE to go look for contact everytime yet they will always eat from the same bowl, always try to fit in a way to small hidey for the both of them (with 2 exits of course) and if they're scared or something strange happens they are practically on top of eachother and neither make a sound.
Idk what to think of their behaviour anymore to be honest, I'll deffo keep an eye out in case blood gets drawn, but apart from that, what do you guys think, are these 2 fine or should i worry ?

I like to add, i've been watching some vids about piggy behaviour and fighting, the high squaking that Lem does is supposedly a happy sound (which strikes me as kinda odd) but Pan's sound is still left unexplained. If i look at fighting vids i'm more like "No,they don't do that." A lot of these vids are piggies that harras eachother the entire time, chase, try to ride, that's not what my girls do.
It's more of nib ? from pan to lemon, lem squaks but either does move or gets the hell out of there, and everything returns to normal. I'll try to film it next time but they don't like it when i film them and always seem to stop the naughty behaviour and act like innocent little angels

That growling noise is called rumbling. If she wiggles her butt at the same time it's called rumble-strutting.

It sounds to me like panda is in season and is having a fairly strong season. This would result in her being a bit grumpy and also reasserting her place as boss.
Lemon squealing is her saying "I submit, you're the boss!"

If it is all down to a strong season, things should calm down and go back to normal in a day or two.

It sounds to me that what you are observing are sows in season. Like boars, sows go through a somewhat hormonal phase in their teenage months and can have occasionally stornger seasons with lots of dominance behaviour.
Conversely, this shared over the top experience serves to bond the girls closer together as they will be usually busy re-affirming their bond afterwards. You may catch them exchanging piggy kisses.
