Sorry if this is a silly question, but if a boar is neutered will he automatically get on with any sows, or might there still be some personality combinations that just don't get on?

No. It depends on the personality. I have a neutered boar and he gets on with three of my sows and not one.

Personality clashes can still happen, especially with older or dominant sows; younger sows are generally somewhat easier to bond. I always recommend dating dating at a rescue for that purpose - there is often a choice of piggies and I can go for the one or ones that click best! This makes usually for a much happier "marriage".

I have definitely several sows who won't accept a boar that is as dominant or more than they are; it turns piggy juggling between groups into a major diplomatic enterprise! I have also witnessed some love on first sniff as well as instant dislike cases when bonding cross gender.

Both my neutered boars get along OK with their wives but sometime you feel they're not top of pile. A bit like us hoomans. lol

Ive never had an issue personally but I can certainly say in most my pairings it has been the girl who is boss. My only male/female couple at the minute is quite amusing it seems rupert has turned into a middle aged women. He was originally a very active popcorning type boy but that seemed to annoy his food driven wife who would tell him off! He's prob about a year old now and his wife is 3 and he has gone from being energetic to a lazy pig just like her!

my boar has had no problem with the girls, the girls are definitely wearing the pants in that cage. Poor Pooh tried rumbe strutting every where but to no avail.
