Hello Everyone
One of my piggies tends to have a bit of a runny eye, drops only help a bit but his chum gives it a clean up every time he spots it starting again!
Do you think he heals it in some way
Thanks
Simone

Hello and welcome to the forum Shalom,
Yes, the piggies do tend to help each other a tiny bit but it's you that has to help them the most. Can you please post some pigtures of the eye? It might be an infection or something in the eye. If your not sure and think it is serious please take him to the vet.

I agree. You cannot just leave something like that as your poor piggy sounds unwell.

I believe it's one of Wiebke's piggies that helps one of her tribe members with blocked tear ducts and cleans them for her! So yes, they do!

I had one piggy that would guide his nearly blind brother around and fetch him pieces of veggies when he couldn't see them. They definitely do help each other if they know their friend is having a hard time! It's very sweet x)

Awwww! Just another thing to add to the list of why i love piggies so much! x)

Hi love........ yes it is one of Wiebke's girls who has eye probs (Hafina) and she does have her helpers clean her eyes for her
However i'd be taking your piggie to the vets....much better to make sure there's no underlying problems :...
HEALING WHEEEEEEEEEEEKS for your piggie's eye XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Guinea pigs help each other indeed.

Hafina, my sow with permanently blocked tear ducts, is getting her eyes licked on a regular basis. So is my cataract girl Taffy - and she was the first to lick the eye of another newly introduced cataract girl (Tegyd). One of my girls with a bladder stone/cystitis problem got nuzzled in the side where the bladder was located inside.

However, it does not prevent a vet visit, especially if the problem persists.
