i had to rehome 1 of my pigs yesterday as the 2 sows i bought turned out to b male and a female,
ive just bin out to my sow with her veggies and she looks rather sad, she normally popcorns when i take her veggies out but she has stayed in her bed today, could she be missing the boar?
does anyone know, "do piggies pine" ?

Your situation is very much the same as mine - i was sold a boar to go in with my existing boar and he turned out to be a she. When i found out that i had a sow i separated immediately (i made sure the pet shop involved give me another cage) - to be honest i though she was much happier when by herself - after all she was pregnant and possibly sick of being chased around the cage and mounted relentlessly.

I spent a lot of time sitting by my sows cage talking to her - although i never handled her unless absolutely necessary. How long have you had her? I'm sure with plenty of attention she'll be fine - it wont be long before she's got some babies to attend to - so she wont be by herself for long :)

ive had her for 3 weeks now, ive been talking to her and she is easy to handle but if she is expecting babies I'm not going to pick her up unless i really need to, ive just been out to her and she has taken sum veggies to bed with her so ill just keep a very close eye on her

My boar was very 'full on' with his affections so when i took my sow out i'm pretty sure she was grateful of some peace and quiet :))

You sound like you are doing everything right - i'm sure she'll be fine :) There are lots of very knowledgeable people on this forum so will help with advice and information should you have any concerns :))

I'm juist very glad that i have found this forum tbh, I'm totally in love with my piggie and want the best for her:(|):(|)

Perhaps you could put a teddy in with her so she's got something to cuddle up to?
