I was browsing some threads (you know, for knowledge lol) when I saw so many people saying that their piggies "just died". They say they were fine one minute and the next they just died :( is this true? Does it really happen? :( :( :( will I just lose my baby for no reason? 8...

Try not to stress and worry, unexplained deaths are rare. But they can happen with things such as heart failure or stroke.

Piggies are very good at hiding illnesses so sometimes you can miss symptoms thats why weighing is so important as weight loss is often a sign of illness. Please try not to worry, piggies are sturdy little creatures x

Most people will have several happy years with their piggies until they pass away at a relatively old age. Unfortunately, like all animals people included they can pass away quite unexpectedly, most people won't have post-mortems to find out the cause of death so it may be that the piggy had been poorly, but because piggies hide illness so well it might not have been noticed.
I wouldn't worry too much, many piggies go on to live long happy lives and given that you obviously love and care about your piggies very much i wouldn't worry x

Like any other animal or person, they can die without showing outward signs of illness, but they don't just die "for no reason". Something like a sudden heart attack for example, they wouldn't show any illness or build up to.

The best thing you can do, it make sure they are fed a good balanced diet, have the opportunity to exercise, and aren't allowed to get too fat. Note any changes in behaviour or habits, which could be an indication of an illness.

Like the others have said, it is not usual for anything to die 'for no reason'. Most of these deaths, although unexpected will have been related to a heart condition or other health problem that may not have shown itself.

Guinea pigs are a prey species and cover their illness or weakness well as a survival mechanism so often it is only when they are really unwell that symptoms become obvious.

The best thing you can do for your piggies is to feed them the right diet, keep them exercised, spend lots of time with them so you can spot any changes in behaviour that might indicate a problem and weigh them regularly. For Piggies often the first or only sign of illness, is weight loss. Learn what's normal for your piggies and have a good cavy-savy vet that you can call on if you are worried.

Other than that just enjoy loving your furry little buddies!
