My computer desk at home is right next to Dylan and Boomer's C&C. I heard a weird squeak and slight groan from one and quickly looked over to see what they were up to or who it could have been - Dylan, our "special needs" piggie is fast asleep and oblivious to me, but his eyes were open and moving like in a REM state, his ears were twitching and so were his back legs. I was a bit concerned so watched him twitch for another second or so, when he obviously suddenly woke, jumped in the air and proceeded to his food bowl and got troughing ::) As he had a stroke before we got him, I was worried he may be having another attack or something, but considering his immediate OK-ness, assume now he was snoozing and dreaming.

Does anyone know if they do, in fact dream, and have you seen them?

haven't seen them dream but if dogs and cats can dream and twitch in their dreams why not piggies? when my girls sleep they sleep though don't say i told you but zoe does snore a little :o :o :o hoping dylan got a big cuddle after his tucker and that boomer got one too :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: hoping someone can answer this question for you as i'd like to know too O0

i havnt seen them dream but mine dont tend to sleep around me! i hope he didnt have a piggie night terror

mine tend to get kicky leg sometimes when they are asleep - boris lays flat out with his eyes shut and occassionally twitches, the others have twitchy ears, i do wonder if it is becuase they are dreaming - especially when you see their legs move! may be worth a little bit of research! interesting to know! :smitten:

I've heard a sort of groany noise coming from Minty (I think) before - he's really the only one who's comfortable enough to sleep out in the open so to speak. I do the same kind of thing sometimes (I really should keep these things to myself!) when I'm just dropping off to sleep...wakes me up! :embarassed: ;D

I reckon they are capable of dreaming

They definitely twitch and snore. Billie snored like something much bigger than a guinea pig ;D

I watched Jimmy last night his legs were sticking out of the pigloo twitching so i woke him up as i was scared he was having some sort of fit. He was not too impressed with me waking him up. Think he was just having a nice dream.
:smitten:

i think my piggies dream cuz everyso often wen I'm looking at them sleeping they suddenly twitch and they ears move to which is so sweet. :smitten: i think they dream.

Of course they dream Julie - all the single boars in the country dream of coming to live with you LOL ;D ;D ;D

Mine have given me a few scares Julie, and I've woken them up thinking they were having a fit, but I know think they were dreaming of celery or chasing lady-pigs!

Nice to know others have seen them too, bless their little piggy socks, good to hear your sleepy stories O0

And I dream of them coming to us! ;D ;D

Fugly twitches his ears

He scared me the other day I came downstairs and he was asleep so I said hello Fugly, normally that wakes him enough to open eyes and look at me, nothing so I called again and got closer I put my hand in cage and touched him, he woke up and looked at me like what are you doing, he was just sound asleep

Oh yes Julie i reckon they do, i see little ears twitching and their noses too and then sometimes Duke's whole body sorts of quivers? and then he like wakes up and goes oh yeah.......... and then looks around to see what's happening :smitten:

I used to love watching my cat Roxanne she had heaps of dreams i'm sure of catching mice etc... ::) ::) ::)

Minty will go into majorly deep sleeps - he's flat out, legs sticking out and nothing willl wake him...can't see if he's breathing because of his fur so I get paranoid so I have to prod him to see if he's alright...never too impressed though - he gives me a 'what are you? Stupid?' look... 98) :-\ ;D

;D that must be one very happy and relaxed piggie you have there!

my piggie falls asleep on me several times a day, he lays out flat and stretches him legs, and sometimes lays on his sides and his legs go up in the air. When he sleeps his legs do twitch and makes movements - he then suddenly awakens and is full of life!

I do believe they dream, why wouldnt they!

I wonder what they dream about? apart from all the single boars coming to Julies of course ;D

it interests me too! i would love to know! running around in a big field of grass maybe!? ;D

maybe, it is fascinating to think what they dream about, maybe they dream of everyday life or running mad around big fields or something or having the biggest veggies in the world. lol

Jeez I don't think I've ever seen my lot asleep! Whenever I walk in, they're always up, whatever time!

Scruffy is a soppy lazy little thing! he loves sleeping on you, as soon has he's had a chew on everything on site he lays out and rests his head and dreams away! such a lovely thing to do - ive never known a guinea pig to be so relaxed!

HHHMMMM, I haven't seen either one of my pigs sleep really. Isabelle has been hiding in her box lately that I put in her cage, it's like her secret place now lol, and Ted will have his eyes closed sometimes. I think they must sleep when we aren't around lol. I bet they do dream, though. What a cute thought! :smitten:

piggy dreams

i have never noticed, but am going to make a point of watching freddy later lol, It would be great if you could see what they were dreaming about

Three out of my four pigs can and have fallen asleep on me, but only Maggie and Bethany fall into a dream like sleep with twitching and kicking. Maggie's hilarious when she's asleep, her little mouth is open and she "sleep talks", very quietly making "feed me" noises. Sooo sweet. x

I've never seen my Trio fall asleep! But I'm sure all creatures dream. I wonder what they dream of...

Lots of food I bet.
