Hiya All,

I was at the vets with Cuzzy today for his last appointment and the vet held him but he was wringling so hard the vet asked me to hold him which I did and Cuzzy immediatly stopped the wringling and calmed down. So it's got me thinking do they know their adoptive mum and dads? It was really heart warming to be honest that he trusts me now.

Is this how pigs are with outsiders? Don't they feel comfortable with people they don't know?

Louise
:)

mine seem to know and trust and love me too. ? don't know, i think they do.

I think they do know us, it might be to do with smell though.

I was holding mine then I gave her to my mam and she turned around and was frantically trying to get back in my arms...my piggy, not my mam! ;D

I think they know who you are by the way you hold them and by your smell. John Anderson isn't keen on my hubby at all but is all snuggly with me.
I also notice that if I give John some cuddle time, then Bob goes mad wheeking in the cage when I put John back in the cage and if I have cuddle time with Bob, John starts rumbling when Bob goes back in the cage.

I love my piggie snuggles though :)

When Spice stayed at the CCT for his abscess I was told that he bit anyone that handled him. When i went to collect him,he snuggled into my neck. The students that were there thought he was going to bite me.....but I got my first piggy kiss instead! He certainly remembered me and I"d never leave him again.Clever little piggies know who spoils them!

The piggies are in the kitchen, from where a staircase leads to the upstairs floor.

They start wheeking when I walk in the upstairs corridor, they do not wheek when its my husband walking. When I am going to the loo at night (everything pitch black) and have to cross through the kitchen, they week, not if its my husband.

He usually ignores them wheeking and calls them greedy monsters, I always open the fridge when they wheek to give them a treat.

They MUST be able to tell somehow, smell, looks, but me being upstairs must mean they could distinguish our footsteps?

which wouldnt be surprising seeing how they can hear every ever so slight rustle of a shopping bag...

mine know my voice and in the morning when i open the kitchen window and say " morning girls" they all start wheeking really loud

them

Mine definately know me, I am sure of that. They know my voice and probably my smell. Lennie and Timmy come when I call them like little puppies and if I am in the kitchen and call out "foodies" Lennie comes running and wheeking to the kitchen door and waits in his little spot until I come through with their veggies!

Fiona you must tell everyone about how cute your guineas are , they sound so cute i really wish my guineas could come in doors i would just love to have them running free indoors like that, i just know my two will love it there,

Aww they will them, I can promise you that! There is lots of love waiting here. But to be honest, it is sort of an accident that they are like that as I didnt know much about piggies and thought I could let them run around like cats! But they love it, so much space and several hidey places. Ok lots of poop to hoover up but I really dont care about that and they go to their cages to wee, so it works perfectly for us ;D

I think they do my boy wheeks when he hears my voice no one else in the family ! :smitten:

I know for sure that my piggies know me. Fluffkin lays on her side in my arms, licks me and snuggles right up into my hip during lap time. She would never do that with any one else. Boogie is less affectionate but she loves to snuggle under my neck and into my hair. They have met both my parents, my boyfriend and my mum's boyfriend and they don't behave like that at all with any one else.
They also recognise my voice. When I get home with my boyf they squeak for me if I speak to them but not for him. Obviously they know who does the shopping!

My girls run and hide if hubby approaches, but if they see or hear me they wheek and run lengths of the cage. Elvis loves everyone, he's a big floozie. Carrot is a funny boy, he's shy even with me but I was away on honeymoon lately and they were all staying with my sister in law and she said Carrot didn't come out the whole time and when I went to pick them up he started shouting and trying to stand on his hind legs, all excited to hear my voice! :smitten:

My boy Gilbert is a mummys boy. he squeals and wriggles when outsiders hold him but is relaxed enough to fall asleep on me.

Amy.x. :smitten:
