Do you change your guinea-pigs care as they get older?

I have a 6 year old boar named Roy and in the past year because he's now older I've changed his bedding from woodshavings to vetbed, and given him a cozy tunnel to keep him comfortable. He also gets more pellets than the other guinea-pigs because my past guinea-pigs have all died at about 5 and I've found they shrunk a few weeks before they died and so I want to try to keep his weight up. So do you change your guinea-pigs care at all as they get older?

Not if the piggy is still healthy and going well. I find that older piggies do like their daily routine amd feel happy and secure in it.
