When you see people you know in the street who you haven't seen for ages, and they ask you if you still have your animals? I'm like yes, off course, honestly :

I seem to get it for everything:
"Still got the guinea pigs?"
"Still making soap?"
and then for people seen less frequently:
"Still in the same house?"
"Kids still at school?"
"Still married to Grant?" (I find this one vaguely insulting)
It does seem daft but it's daft uniform politeness, much as you say "Fine!" when people ask "How are you?" even though you have a long list of complaints you're far too polite to burden them with!

yes some people do this when theyve ran out of things to say or maybe having nothing much to say :
i get are you still with wots his name you know the fatherof your kids - I'm like - yes we got married last year in greece ;D
