I have 2 boars , but i just found this is it true ?

But never just put 2 boars together & expect them to get on. They won't & they may well engage in serious fighting.

We have 2 Boars together

Wigat & Stretch (see avatar pic left)

They are brothers and have been together for 18months with no problems

Hi

We have had our two boars together since we got them at 6 weeks ol they are now nearly 4 and yeh they have their disagreements, in fact theyre like an old married couple nagging each other and having strops but on the whole they get on well and as soon as one leaves the cage the other one is up looking for them.

We once took Maurice to the vet as he had got himself under the recliner chair while out for playtime and he was in shock so we left Julien at home. What a face he had on him when we came back from the vets as if to say "you left me here on my own" :(|)

but then he was lovely and looked after Maurice every time he moved Julien was right there watching him

Yeh my boys live together. I got Hamish first from Dobbies Garden Centre then paired him up with Robin who I got as a rescue. Hamish is still going through his teenage hormone phase so they can be a bit testy with one another, but on the whole they can live in the same cage quite peacefully.
Only had some problems yesterday but I think that's due to travelling and new environments.

As long as you introduce them on neautral ground and keep a close eye on them, if there are no fights they should be alright. Just always keep it in mind that things might not work out the way you want. Boys are fickle :))

I think the above reference is referring to people going out and getting 2 adult boars and just sticking them together. Generally adult boars will fight when put together if they have never met but there are exceptions to the rule! (There also is waits to introduce adult boars to one another, but it is all down to the boar in question)

Also if it is a baby, an adult boar does not tend to fight with a baby boar, as they are not seen as a threat. The trouble can start when they start growing up (hormonal teenage years) and challenging the adult boar. Trouble does not always start.

Littermates or 2 baby boars can grow up fine together but there is always a risk they may fallout, but that risk is also present with sows.

So in answer to the statement 2 bonded boars can live happily together :).

ive got 2 sets of 2 boys.Mac and Rascal are a father and son pairing and get on lovely,do have narks with each other but its over and done with in minutes.
the babies are only about 9wks old and I'm hoping they will continue to get on as they hit their teenage year.

I have 4 pairs of boys,a trio and 2 single boys,
They cannot ever just be chucked together, even with careful planning they can still fall out but the chances of them getting along are much higher if people put in a little effort, most of mine were paired correctly and thankfully the few that werent were babies or quite young at the time but my calmest pairs are the ones paired properly.
I have 8 piggies on hold at rescue, now due to my selfish wanting of certain pigs to be paired most of the 8 are now singular due to fighting and my beautiful special boy chico has a gash requiring stiches on his face, thats what happens when piggies dont pick there match and thats why i always advise taking the piggy to a rescue to pick a friend.

Smokey and Bandit were brought at a petshop at 3 months of age-result is now that smokey rapes Bandit daily.

Basil & Ralph-Petshop and accidental pregnancy-get along great but basil has big nerve issues that none of my rescue pigs have

Zanzabar and baker were from rescue and apart from a few dominance issues are the perfect match

Cooper and windsor were a accidental pregnancy and rescue and both are the best of friends

Blade & Rajah were previously adopted before me and the girl stupidly chucked a third boar in and after that blade and Rajah were never the same so are now split permanantly due to one huge last fight they had. Rajah lost his eye when the third boar was thrown into the mix.

The trio are uncle and two nephews and get along great they are also from rescue.
it pays off to find the right pig for each one

P.S i am getting more piggies from rescue including a friend for blade.
Rajah will be going in with Basil & Ralph so ill have another trio but to give you an indication of hjow hard ive worked to get a great pair i have spent two months of bathing/introducing in run and lap time together and they still aren't in together permanently yet, all good things take time;)

My 2 boys live together.
I paired them in the summer and touch wood no problems xx

We have 2 boys. Sir David and Columbo and they do rumblestrutt and jump on each other but nothing nasty. They call for each other if we take one out first for their run until the other one joins them. They haven't reached their teenage years yet so we will have to wait and see how they are then.
