Loving licks from Beechie x

@ Pebble I think people know what you mean (I did anyway!) :) and I know just what you're saying and I agree that they are all worth every single penny :)

My brother's girlfriend 'didn't think' that they could get ill (didn't really think through getting pigs in the first place, but that's another story!) but I was happy to pay out for the emergency treatment to know little Josh wasn't going to be in pain and I'd do it again today. He's not my direct repsonsability, but I felt he kinda was as they just didn't have the cash, but again, that's yet another story..

*group hug*

What do you think you have said that has offended? I dont think you have said anything that shouldnt be said. Ok peoples circumstances change and perhaps things get tough for a while, but i personally would starve myself and sell everything i have to keep my babies safe and well, i think if you are not prepared to do that then you shouldnt have pets.

It is a big responsibility :{

Just my dental pigs alone cost me about £60 a month in veterinary bills, and that isn't taking into account vaccinations for my bunnies and kitten and anything else that crops up with any of the others. Priya, my kitten, is insured and that is just over £10 a month with Petplan.

I'm far from rich and in fact have a really small income, but I fund my dental pigs treatment by delivering our local business handbook each month, for which I get paid £50 and I also deliver phone books a few times a year.

I don't have a vet fund at the moment, but its a good idea i think once christmas is over and done with i'll start saving! in the past if the piggies have needed vets treatment me and OH have gone without things, one week we lived on beans on toast and noodles because we couldn't afford to go shopping after one of the piggies needed an op, sadly he died a week afterwards :(

Its a great idea to have a fund. So far I've just paid up as I go - my Toffee has been at the vets twice in the past few weeks (teeth) and Ebony twice too (abscess) - it all adds up and I think I will start putting money specifically aside for them starting this week.
Thanks
xx

its a really good idea to have a "fund".I got my 2 older girls gizzy and guinness about 2 and bit years ago and so far have cost me nothing, but taking guinness to vets friday about a lump.reading comments on here piggies can be expensive animals.but like one of you said earlier you would go without yourself to get your piggies well again.what i think is wrong is the fact insurance for piggies is virtually impossible to get.does anyone know of anyone who insures piggies ?

As I have two piggies who need regular dental work and a very small income, I deliver our local business magazine every month which makes me £50, and this almost pays for their treatment. A few times a year I also deliver phone books (Thomson Local, Yellow Pages, Phone Book) to put a bit more into the fund. Other than that I just eat pasta for a month to save money when I have other veterinary bills to cover!

My cat is insured but not my rabbits or piggies.

hi furryfriends, I would like to contribute towards the boys dental care as you kindly gave them a home. i feel some responsibility for them(should get pet shop to pay as it was their negligence that caused this, makes me so angry !)
anyway seriously get back to me and please let me help xx lynne

Suzy is looking at setting up a dental fund for the two lethal boys as when they arrive I'll potentially have four dental piggies so any offers of help towards their dental care will be much appreciated and needed.

I would prefer someone else to hold the fund for the lethal boys and any money paid directly to my vet.

You can try and get the petshops to take some responsibility but I doubt they will.
