It’s so hard as both have their special ways that you fall for! But I will admit I have a big soft spot for boars, like already said they mellow with age and just melt my heart when they try their best to impress the ladies (or the blokes in my Reggie’s case!)! But then my lovely Jess was with me 7 and a half years and will always be extra special, she definitely mellowed and was full of love and cuddles! Love them all really, just for different things and different ways they have!

My boars definitely like a bit more love than my ladies atm though! And are most definitely more clueless! :))
Newbie Cleo gave me a nice bite last night the madam! :gd:So boys are winning on niceness this week! :))

I loved my boars, Christian for his cheekiness and Dennis for his gentleness. What I won't miss is the boar bits cleaning especially Christian. Dennis managed to keep himself clean but Christian was a completely different matter! I was forever having to relieve him of sperm rods and clean his little willy and it absolutely stank! It was most likely because he had arthritis of his spine and it was too painful to clean himself up even though he was on a high dose of Metacam. What I do miss is the cuddles with them they were both up for a cuddle anytime.

I love my 3 girlies too. They are a bit more aloof than the boys and don't appreciate cuddles so much as the boys did. I can give tham a cuddle but only for a short amount of time. They are not being handled much at until mid-end Jan as they have just started treatment for mites as Christian generously decided to share his mite infestation with all of them before toddling of to the Rainbow Bridge last week. My cheeky boy was cheeky to his last breath bless him!

I know we discussed this in your previous threads about your piggies, but this is literally the only time I have ever heard this said - that only keeping sows negatively impacts their health and that they must have a boar with them? What is the reasoning behind this? The forum is filled with sow only (and boar only for that matter) keepers!
I don't know how true this is but I was watching one of little adventures YouTube videos recently (she has a herd of 5 guinea pigs) think she's from Canada but I'm not 100% sure and she saying alot of rescues over there won't let you adopt sows without a neuteured boar as apparently (again I'm not sure how true this is) there is a higher risk of them developing ovarian cysts if they are not living with a male. It's the first time I've heard this too and she didn't go on to explain Why. I know they do things differently over there as it's common to neuter as nake before they're 3 weeks old. I was going to ask you about this I think lol
