Do you think Guinea pigs grieve?

I dont think its just other Piggies they grieve for

I had to get my dog put down september there. The vet came to the house to do and all day not one of them made a sound. They didnt even squeak for their veg that night, which in my house you cant put a tap on without them going crazy and they all stayed into their houses. Even my rabbit was very quiet, she usually thumps etc.

When Travis's body was getting taken out the house (we got him cremated), each one slowly came out their houses as if to say their goodbyes to him. I have never seen this behaviour in any of my pets until that awful day.

This is a sad and fascinating account, it shows there is a side to animals that we just cannot comprehend.

I have just lost my wee piggie Alfie and quite worried about Doodle because he has lost two best pals in 3 months :( I have adopted two other piggies that are 18 months old but Doodle and bugsy are both a bit grumpy with each other ATM. Poor Doodle has enough to stress about so don't want to cage them together yet. He looks so sad. I really hope I don't lose him as he is so beautiful, gentle and friendly. I still grieve over Noodle who passed 3 months ago, Doodle hasn't got over it either. Poor piggies. They are just as sensitive as us piggy slaves :(:Ayociexp61:

Hello Welcome to the forum,

Sorry to hear you have lost your piggie Alfie and sorry to hear about Noodle too.

If you want to post a memorial to them with have a section called Rainbow Bridge where posters leave tributes to those pets they have lost http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?16-Rainbow-Bridge-Pets

How many piggies do you have now and who is living with who?

I lost one of my duo last week and her companion became very withdrawn.Didn't want to risk losing her as,well so got her a friend within 3 days. Was hard but she went back to herself so worth it.
