COVID-19 Do you think the coronavirus will cause a hay shortage?

In so glad to hear you at least have some options now :D
If you're able to get some to tide you over from the rabbit lady, that would be great :tu:

Take a few empty bags/boxes so if you happen to see some grass along the way pick some & stuff into bags/boxes to feed them with too, either as grass for a few handfuls and/or dry it & make your own hay
Stay safe though 🤗
Xx

In case it's helpful to anyone: ordered 4 boxes of meadow hay from Dust Free Hay on Sunday and they have arrived today (2 days later). So for the time being ordering and delivering from them seems to be okay.

the lockdown here would be extended here for 2 more months according to some ministers but atleast now i have some hay for my 4 piggies and we ll mot waste it plus the lady said if we meed more hay in thefuture months she ll happily give us as she has many supplies of hay for her🥳🥳🥳

I had a hay box delivery yesterday which took longer than normal, but I still have some timothy left.

I got a box of Timothy and a box of meadow hay. I am disappointed with the quality of the meadow hay. Of course it will do, but it's brown, not tasty green. What have others found with the hay box meadow hay?
Normally their meadow hay is fab but I found the last box I had from them was like yours brown and nothing like it usually is.

Same for me.
Sorry to jump on an older post. Julie I've read you've brought hay from boxofhay. I've brought from haybox before but have read recent bad reviews and a back log of people orders. The boxofhay website seems a cheaper price and you get 7kg. How did you find the quality? Thank you

It was a while ago i ordered and the quality was good. However I've noticed that all hay has dropped in quality lately. Probably the rubbish weather we had in the summer.

I had also noticed that Nature's Own hay wasn't so good at the moment. It's very bitty (like dried grass cuttings). However, the bales I buy from Shorefields are very good. Not as green perhaps but they smell lovely. I have been getting them direct from their store in Lancaster but he did say he could ship them for a reasonable cost if we weren't allowed to travel.

The hay I get from my local farm shop is lovely stuff. A lot bettter than I had last year from there and at only six quid for a farm bale a complete bargain!
