I'm beginning to think our pigs have learnt english!

If I go into the kitchen or rustle anything then I get a very strongly worded wheek from the cage reminding me that someone would like a treat of some sort.

However, last night my fiance asked me if I would like a takeaway from over the road and as I replied that would be nice, Gizmo wheeked his head off! I didn't rustle anything but was well within earshot of the pigs. I swear he was saying, 'If you're having a treat I want one as well!'

Anyone else think the piggies understand what we're saying and try to get food that way?

For sure ;D

Riffy always looks up at me if I say "Riffy" even in conversation (and not directed at him). I know Riff is very intelligent :)

I think so, definately!

My boys get excited when I say "Do you want your breakfast?" The squeaking goes crazy.

In the evening, I say "Are you hungry? Do you want your snacks?" Again, I am met with huge squeaks, bang on cue. They have obviously associated these two phrases with food.

THey also seem to know their names. Captain is such a softy, we tend to say "Caaaaptain" in a gentle manner. His companion, Davey Jones, is a pig with attitude and is quite fiesty. He comes right up to us when we say quite assertively "Davey Jones!" He only responds when we use both the Davey and Jones! Maybe he likes the phonetic sound of the J.

I swear they do,Ive just been and fed the piggies and Angel and the crazy kids when I said itll be there in a sec went quiet and sat waiting at their dish :o

Definately! When I say Cubster! Cubby looks striaght at me. If I stand at my living room door and call "piggies" Cubby & Golly are by my side in seconds! When I talk to Pookie queitly, telling him hes gorgeous etc etc, I always say at the end " would you like some parlsey pookums?" and his little head seems to nod!

Of course most of it is our own perception of it, how we believe they are thinking and WOULD answer us if they could. Well thats what I think anyway I like that world better than the normal human one!

Oi! Yes, Pookums aka Pookie - he is 5 1/2 and very special boy! I told you my world at home is very different to this boring existence 9-5.30 here! 98) 98)

If we didnt act silly and daft around our puggies we'd be damn boring, its nice to let go and talk in funny voices etc to them..and bloody funny to listen to if youre a neighbour too ;D ;D
i was outside this morning and i mustve sounded like a complete fruitbat talking to the puggies in a really high stupid voice, then again I did catch my neighbour peering over the fence talking in the same voice to the outside puggies, haha she didnt know i was watching her from the bedroom window! ;D ;D ;D

I know! I must sound totally off the planet talking to mine! Luckily both my neighbours are retired and deaf! He he!
Sometimes I surprise myself the things I say to my piggies and the tone of my voice, it goes so high sometimes I think only dogs can hear me! ;D

88) Hey, I never thought of that one! I'll remeber that one! ;D

My lot all respond to their names and when I say 'come here', they do.

When squeaking for their tea, I shout 'hold on just chopping it' they shut up!

Scarby 0:) adored my father. At my parents' house, when his voice came on the answer phone Scarby would alwaya swivel his head round to it.

I always talk to my pigs
I'm like

Hello , little darlings
Spiceamooo
Honeeeyy

Spice looks up when i say Spice

Also my sisters budgies knows 'shhhhh!' because he shutups up

And... My dogs know

'walkies'
'beach'
'din-dins'
'cat'
'bubba-lubba'

Yep , we are mad in my house ! :D :D :D

Wilson and Cindy look at me when I say their names but the rest arent that interested if theres no food around ;D

I talk to my piggies too, we have 10 rats, a snake and a bearded dragon in our house and i talk to them too, my partner thinks I'm mad and always says that the animals get fed better than him! ;)
