Just wondering, do any members piggies make a fuss when you are cutting their toe-nails? Mine always do! ;D

I always talk calmly to them and make them comfortable, but hey, they just don't like it! I bet my neighbours think I am doing all sorts of horrible things to them. ;D
No wonder my vet asked if I would like Shaun's nails trimmed, although I must add they were reasonably short anyway, when he was asleep while being neutered. I said, yes, if there is not extra charge, go for it! :)

when i first got my first 2 i wouldnt dare cut them and took to the lady i got them off who charged 4.00 per piggie , then when i strted getting the rescu piggies i realised i had to learn how to do them , lol

i wrap them in a tea towel so they cant wriggle and talk to them whilst i do it and now i dont have any bother , i have one boar that just doesnt care and will lie there and just let me do it lol

i also have a boar with dark nails so I'm always extra careful and cut little and oftrn with his

I have always cut their nails myself. I used to have budgies as a little girl, so got used to doing it then and avoiding the "quick".

I can cut and style their hair ... no problem ... but when it comes to getting those pet nail clippers out, if they were able to then they would run a mile! ;D ;D

I had the vet cut Ted's nails when I went about 2 weeks ago, haven't done it myself yet. They are still pretty short now but will have to suck it up and do it myself here in a few weeks. I just don't want to hurt him is all. :P

yes 2funny they're like 'omg get off, don't touch me, don't touch me!'

I had a mass toe nail session last weekend, I ended up getting in the girls C&C catching them all, putting them in a large box and then one at a time sitting them on my knee, popping a pea shoot in their mouth and go for it quick ;D Guess who made the most fuss...Dillon typical bloke all squeeky and wimpy ::) :smitten:

Oh yes, you'd think I was cutting off limbs when I do Bonnie's. With practice I've gotten quicker so at least it's over and done with in a short space of time.

the only one who makes a fuss is Peaches, I have to be careful with Ferg & Pie as they have black nails :'(

Yep mine make one hell of a fuss, the trick i've found is give them a big spinach leaf or something right before you do it and that keeps them occupied for about...5 seconds lol ::)

Merlin HATES it

Back feet are fine - from feet have curly nails so its hard to do. The little man jumps each time I snip which isnt helpful

The poor lamb usually has a bath in store after nails so by the time ive finished with him he generally has a face on for the rest of the day.

Well two of mine will try and bite me, one will try and leg it, one whimpers like a baby and the other three don't mind....

A couple do have curly nails aswell xx0

my older girls who are both 6 1/2yr old dont really mind too much they will happily sit there and be fed cucumber whilst having their nails done but the younger ones are more wriggly and wheek!

At first Hriusha gets a little upset, but I stroke him gently and he calms down and sits very nicely. He is very good about his nails :smitten: :smitten:

Ugh, I hate doing it. WHAT a drama!

They act like I'm trying to murder them and squeal, wriggle and sometimes bite me. I'm such an awful piggie-mum!

Do folks agree it is the front feet that cause the trouble?

I wonder if it is the angle that we have to get the piggies into in order to safely clip the front toe nails? Or just perhaps that their front feet are more ticklish? ;D

i always take mine to vet to get them done as I'm scared of doing it, but now i have more piggies it gets more expensive,

is it hard to do? should i try myself? or should i leave it to the professionals?

some of my piggies complain and some dont i have to be extra carefull with sophie as she has black nails my vet doesent charge for my rabbit it is all included when she has her vacinations but it is easier for me to do the piggies as i have 10 of them and there nails grow very fast
