I am thinking of clearing the conservatory and letting the pigs run free range when it is play time as I feel the play pen is bigger than the cage, but not enough to give them a good run when I include their armchairs etc, providing the weather is ok I will let them spend a few hours in there, but will their wee damage my laminate?

mine get put in the bathroom for a run about so they are on lino or on the kitchen floor

I don't really do floor time with mine, except for when cleaning out their cage. Mine don't like to run on hard floors and I thought setting up and cleaning after floortime took too much work (as I wanted them to do it every day) so I just made their living area bigger.

Be careful with the temperature in a conservatory especially when the summer comes, ours can get up to 120 degrees!

You need to provide "piggy corners" for toilets (preferably with hide) where they can make messes which you can clean away easily.

I use plastic cupboard liner (doesn't slide like a normal sheet) and the cover with an old beach towel or old bathroom mats which can be washed/wiped.

Make sure that there are no corners ans squeezes they can get into and make messes. And make VERY certain that they can't get at any electric cables!

It might also be wise to train them to come into a "shuttle bus" or can walk back into their cage, otherwise you'll be up for some wild hunts, which can seriously freak out a poor piggy!

However, a roaming piggy is wonderful to see!

I put towels down in the corners of the piggies room and under the wardrobe. They tend to use these as toilet areas. My girls dont run about much when I let them out, they just tend to hide under the wardrobe. Montomgery on the otherhand loves exercise time. He runs about all over the upstairs rooms but never piddles anywhere other than the piggies room. Sometimes when I'm having a bath he comes into the bathroom and curls up the the towel on the floor!

How lovely! You can't have a bath in peace here either, but it's the cat who comes to visit! :))

My girls are allowed the run of the living room when they're having a cage change. I put down a couple of fleece blankets and towels, as we have laminate too and I was worried about them hurting their legs. Pippa has been known to 'wheelspin' once or twice when trying to run without grip :{

As for pee, I always wipe and mop round when they've gone back home to make sure I get rid of any accidents. There has been a couple, but they've left no mark on the floor (and our flooring is quite dark)

I have sliding doors everywhere so i just close the doors off when its just me home so nothing can go wrong lol and the piggies have run of the kitchen/dining and 2 loungeroom, its all tiled and the pigs dont like it all the time so i lay big fleeces down, the also still have there pigloos and litter trays in the corners lol.
I find thats the best area as there are no cords or anything so i can just put them down without remodelling my whole houserolleyes
I have not heard of there urine wrecking lino so i would think it would be ok;)

Mine run free in my bedroom every night. The carpet is probably a state deep down, lucky we have a Vax so I can wash the carpet. :))

Dexter and his girls are free-rangers at heart. I'm hoping to set the room up in a way that they can free range in the whole room during the day. I'd so love to have them free range downstairs but it's a no go while I live with my parents.

Ah I wish my piggies were so well behaved they would curl up on my bath towel! :):(|)

There are some cables in one corner so I will be sure to cover them. I know about the temperature, it is unbearable in summer! Generally during the day at the weekend (at the moment!), it is a comfortable temperature so I will keep them in there and I will set up my camera so you can all watch them playing about! x)

I set up a wall around a corner of the room and put down a plastic sheet down so the pee dosn't damage the carpet. They love to be able to run around and I put up the play tent, cardboard boxes, cuddle cups, snuggle sacks ect so they can hide and play hide 'n' seek!

I let Candy and sparky run around the kitchen in the evening:)), I do have towels down, as candy tends to stay in one place once! Although I know she moves as I sit in there on a chair talking to them:(|)

I put towels into the corners that go into the fridge ect! Sparky loves it, I love watching her little bum wrigglingx)

My 2 sometimes have free range of the living room but not too often as they pee everywhere and we live in a rented house. Once when Eliza has a UTI, she wee'd on our beige carpet and left a reddish stain so now my hubby isn't keen on them being free range :( I tend to do it when he isn't home :))

Lol, what he doesn't know can't hurt him :(|)

I let my piggies out once and they devoured half of a book that I'd left on the floor, I discretely slid it under the sofa so no one would find out (I didn't want the piggys in trouble:red") )
