As we all know, non-guinea pig people have NO idea how joyous and characterful Guinea pigs are, with their own individual personalities.

I’ve come to notice a few habits my herd have.
Olive, every time she goes for a drink out of the ceramic bowl she always gently bites the side of the bowl a few times in between drinking. Making a distinctive ‘ding ding ding’ . So we always know when olives having a drink as she makes a little tune for a few minutes :))
Mary and Patrick like to drink after every few pellets that they’ve eaten. Maybe to soften them? Is this common, have you noticed your pigs drinking lots while eating pellets?
Mary also has a habit of drinking quite often from her water bottle (which no one else knows how to use). Sometimes it seems obsessive, not that she thirsty, as she only had a drink 2 minutes before hand..and 2 minutes before that.

hmm.. it seems all my pigs have a drinking habit

Not sure if it’s a habit as such, but Patrick can be running around all cheerful and then suddenly drop to have a 5 minute power nap, fully on his side. Before waking up and jumping into action again.

Opal doesn’t seem to have a habit, she just likes to be bossy :xd:

We can tell which of our piggies is drinking by the sound they make and the speed they drink. When I put pellets in the cage Rusty goes straight to the bottle to drink before eating one. Peanut drinks a lot while eating pellets and spits bits back into the bottle, the water turns brown! If Nugget hears a bag russle he runs straight to the hay pile thinking I'm going to top the hay up.

Fudge drinks like there’s no tomorrow. Constantly pulling with his mouth on the spout! I can tell when he’s drinking!

Coco is still confused when I do scatter feeding. She will stand at the bars for a few seconds after I’ve put the veg in 🤦🏾‍♀️

Toffee sometimes does a short purr now when I feed them. I THINK it’s one of pleasure rather than displeasure. But I’m not entirely sure. Also, if I’m hand feeding and give him his veg, he runs off and ‘whines’ as he’s eating. Even if Fudge is nowhere near him 🤣🤣

They all like to climb onto my shoulder and hide in my hair when I'm holding them.

Chanel likes head scratches on her own terms, and I’m ok with that. She also prefers to sit in their cat bed thing at lap time, and I’m ok with that. I’ll hold her a few mins then put her in and have coco on my lap. She likes lap time ☺️

I can tell which one is drinking because Bruno drinks a lot and knows how to use a bottle where as ozzy takes it slower and still doesn’t know how to properly use it. Also Bruno is very excited by movement, since they’re on my bedroom floor anything sets him off, if I roll over in bed or pee he starts wheeking as loud as it goes, very lucky my OH is a heavy sleeper :)

Spud has never used his water bottle in front of me but if I stay in his room for a while I hear him use it as soon as I've left the room. I guess it's just one of those quirks because he'll stare at the bottle when he want's some but won't go near it if i'm there because clearly I'm very scary.

I just realised that Opal does indeed have a habit, and an annoying one at that! She insists on moving furniture! She can never leave a box where I put it she has to move it.

And all my pigs also drag their pellet bowls closer to them or into a hidey, under from each other’s noses as their trying to eat :))

At veg time, when I open the hutch, Betsy is there with her head out of the door as soon as I open it wanting to choose the tastiest bit from the bowl. She has cataracts and doesn't see very well. I also don't think she realises that she lives in the top floor of the hutch. Some days she has her feet on the threshold and her neck stretched out so much I'm amazed she hasn't fallen out! I am really quick with opening the hutch and giving her the veg bowl too. Bless her!
