Do your pigs know their names?

I have heard that they can but mine don't seem to want to learn, the only word they have learned so far is 'Vegetables' :(|)
 
I think bob knows her name as she always looks around when i call her name :)) but that might just be because they know the voice i use to talk to them :))
 
At first, they come for a little treat, like a pellet or a bit of hay, and lots of praise and a later stage they will turn their back to you whenever you call them! mallethead

Mine know their names, as I tell them whenever they are out for a cuddle. they will even learn which one is which.

I had a key situation with Minx. Mischief was already outside in the garden and I had come in to pick up Minx. No budge. then I said: "Missy walkie. Minx walkie?" - Promptly she went into the carrier box!
 
Our last boar knew his name you called out Hughie and he lifted his head and looked at us so I think he knew it. We are currently working on Roger to get him to acknowledge his name wish us luck :(|)
 
Ah how sweet! I always feel bad hugging one at a time so I always give them lap time together so they will never learn their names!

My BF won't hold them anymore because they have peed twice on his new Christmas clothes! :{

He said he is not holding them 'pi$$y things' again! :0

(I am sure he was just joking because I have walked in on him talking to them quite a lot recently so I know he loves them really!) ;)
 
mine all know their names and will turn around and come to me if i call them. Jive mostly know his from being told off!
 
I think mine knows their names as they will look when i call them, but i do say 'Gizzy wizzy gizmo' and 'Joey poey', i think they think I'm mad!

Also when me dad sees them he always says 'Piggy wiggy's!' and they start wheeking at him! Its normally because he brings them treats of grass and dandelions and he can never remember their names. :)) Even when they are sleeping and he says Piggy wiggy's they shoot up and start wheeking, it sweet as they normal have flatten fur on the side of their faces, from sleeping, so cute.

Bradders knows his name you walk in and call him and he runs to the side of the cage sqeaking its so sweet. :)
 
I have a free range boar called Archie, he knows his name, he also gets in his cage on comand. You just shout "Archie come get in", he will rush from where ever he is hiding, usually under the table, and gets back into his C+C cage and turns around to wait for his treat.:))

Maggie-May wondered out of the run in the bottom of the hutch when i was trying to get her to put her upstairs, she just tottered off! I didn't realise for a few minutes until i caught sight of her almost at the wheely bin a couple of meters away. So I called her and she turned round with a guilty face and tottered back to me. x)x)x)x)x)x)x)x)

I don't think my boys know their names, they both look at me when I call either name or when I'm talking to them in general they often look at me. When I come home though, I go over to the cage and say "Hello Boys" and Bailey in particular comes over wheeking at me, Guinness just copies whatever Bailey does, so he comes over too after a few seconds.
 
Well...I call Jasmine, and Elijah and Errol run to the front of the cage and start wheeking at me...think they may be a tad confused... :))

I do believe some of my pigs know their names. Two of my past three would react when I called their names - Charlie and Tuppy. Tuppy also used to react to Charlie's name, after he passed. I would sit with her and talk to her, and whenever I said "Charlie" she would turn her head up to look at me. They were soulmates, no doubt about it.
 
Names

Only one of mine knows his name and that is Paddy- usually when he's about to eat something he shouldn't like shoelaces, plastic bags and chrismas trees ! We put the tree up and let the 3 boys out for a run and he sniffed the air, whirled round. climbed up the pot it was in and started chomping away :)) He does however respond to a shout of Paddy stop it ! and run off like a guilty teenager lol
 
Charlotte came running to her name the other day. Kizzy knows "downstairs Kizzy" cuz I put the food downstairs and she comes to the upstairs door and only goes downstairs when I tell her. Daisy has learnt "get down" cuz she puts her paws on the door to say hello and I can't open it :))
 
Some of mine do,
When ever i say Rajahs name he stands up resting on the grids and wheeks his little heart outx)
Bandit always looks my way and flashes his little lips when i say his
Smokey basically stares at me when i say his
Blade Popcorns when i say his:(|)
Panda freezes when i say his
Ralph purrs and wheeks

the other 7 dont care lol
