Teenage Guinea Pig
A few weeks ago I noticed one of my rodents had an issue with one of his ears, I’ve not taken him to the vets but have tried Spot On incase he had ear mites, that had no effect but now I think I’ve found the problem! I’ve belatedly realised that he has an awful lot of hair inside his ear and down into his ear canal, - yet the ear that doesn’t seem to cause him problems is pretty much hair free. Can’t believe I didn’t notice earlier that his ears looked different.
My other rodent (his brother) hasn’t got hair inside his ears so now I’m thinking all other rodents have bald ears inside and that this is the cause of Fudge’s irritation when his ear is touched. The hair inside his ear is thick and coarse and there’s lots of it, it’s got to be the cause of why he shakes his head vigorously whenever I try to get near that ear. Can other people check inside the ears of their rodents please and let me know if your rodents are hair free.
