What else can I do for Lulu’s eye to make her comfortable?

We have been to a piggy savvy vet, who doesn’t know exactly what has caused her eye to be this way. However, a tonometry of both eyes showed that the intraocular pressure of the “poorly” eye is about 4-5x that of the normal eye. She has been prescribed long term Metacam, and we have been told to look out for any changes. I can’t help but feel like there’s something more I can do at home to help with the eye?😓

It is possible that further down the line she will need to have the eye taken out, however for now we are trying to manage the pain long term as she has just been through and operation in January.

She has cataracts and is pretty much blind in both eyes, however one seems a lot more inflamed, with a white spot on it. The eye is very watery/teary, and her sister loves to lick it (apparently that is Nelli trying to make Lulu’s pain better 😭😭😭).

Is there anything else I could do for my little beauty?

I have no answer but my heart goes out to you.
I’m also dealing with a piggy with a dodgy eye that’s not healing well so I understand what you’re going through

I’m so sorry to hear that, it just sucks doesn’t it? She’s well in herself, but the eye really doesn’t look in a good way 😓 she’s my little medical mystery

If you can get plain artificial tear gel (or if they haven't got that, tear drops), this would help with keeping the eye hydrated and general comfort. The gel is easier to apply and lasts longer; you can apply it 3-6 times a day but need to wait at least half an hour after any other eye application.

Keep an eye out in case the eye is starting to protrude or to harden up and contact your vets promptly.

What brand/specific eye drops could I purchase in the UK? I just don’t want to get the wrong ones

Any plain artificial tear gel or drops will do. Ask in a pharmacy. My prescribes viscotears gel but a comparable product will do. It is not a medication. This is especially important if the eye is no longer cleaned.

If you buy the eye gel in a pharmacy don’t tell them it’s for your guinea pig.
I did that and they refused to sell it to me as it wasn’t licensed for animals.
I just went to another shop and didn’t say anything about guinea pigs
