My friends piggies has just died this morning.
she said he was ok last night when she fed him and played with him.
then she got up this morning and he was gone.
he had not been ill or anything he was fine.

she has had him for about 2 years, she acquired him (and another, but he died aswell)from someone who didnt want him any more.

has anybody got any ideas why this happened.

thanks

Oh love that's sooo sooo sad :'( :'( :'( RIP little ones, run free at the bridge :'( :'( :'(
Love it would be very hard to imagine what happened :'(
It might have been a genetic defect or something that they'd already picked up before your lovely friend rehomed them, poor girl she did the right thing, i'm glad they had a lovely mummy like her before they went to the bridge, at least they knew they were loved :smitten: :smitten:

And welcome love to the forum from OZ :)

awwww rest in peace little ones :'( :'(
I am sorry I have no idea why this happened bt it is so sad!

Welcome to the forum

thanks for your replies.
my friend thinks that is something she has done, but i told her it wasnt.
if he was ok yesterday well we do not know why and how it happened.

guinea pigs hide illness very well, tell you friend that she gave him a wonderful life,it may just of been his time to go. Nobody is to blame. R.I.P little piggie

Does anybody know of any rescues around the durham or newcastle area
as i think she is going to get another 1 or maybe 2 piggies
she says she is looking in papers for people giving them away, but I'm not sure about that.

getting them from a rescue might be the best idea

rescues are the best place to go to, they always have guinea pigs needing a good home, I got 2 of mine from rescues, not only do they charge less (than petshops) they can sex them properly (unlike petshops).
Tell your friend about this forum, we are all really friendly, and we all help eachother out. It gets addictive

Hi,When piggies die suddenly like this it is almost always caused by heart attack.I have lost several in this way over the years. As has already been suggested,it may have been a genetic defect. In any case there is nothing your friend could have done. She gave the piggy a loving home and that is all that matters.

as with people sometimes they "just die" it was probably something like a stroke or heart attack but pigs are very good at hiding illness and pain so it could well have been ill with out showing her any signs, how sad for her
