Does anyone else ever wish their pigs would give them a break!?

I'm sure my pigs want to cause me as much stress as possible...

Last year, Cameo was very ill, 5 weeks of round the clock care, she made a full recovery. After that, Big Dave had his mystery 600g weightloss, that exhaustive tests and investigations found no reason for. He wasn't "unwell" and has been a stable 1.2kg ever since. I had a few months rest then...

Then Maggie came along and shortly after, developed her weird snorty breathing, diagnosed as throat abscesses. As soon as she was better, Big Dave developed a bladder problem that took a lot of working out as to what it actually was - no official diagnosis, but after trialing some medication, he's fine again. Was discharged from the vets yesterday...hooray!

This morning? I've been awoken by a wheezy Jeffrey, so off to the vets we go! rolleyes mallethead

Know how you feel, with us it's bladder problems and feels like one continual vets visit since Jan 2011, longest we've managed without vets has been 2 months...

Sorry to hear Jeff is poorly, hope you can get him sorted quickly. Good news on Dave, what meds is he on? Always building knowledge on badder piggies as it appears that is what we end up getting...

Healing vibes to Jeff

He was on metacam and tramadol to keep his pain under control while investigations were ongoing. No infection, no stones etc. so I started him on Cystaid. Had him on that for a week and reduced the pain relief, yesterday was 24 hours of no pain relief and no squeaking :))

So he's just on cystaid at the moment. 1 capsule once daily. I may reduce it down if I can, I may not, as it's basically glucosamine and he's about 5-5 and a half years old so it might do him some good!

But we wouldn't be without them would we? :)) Know how you feel but my woes are with one of my degus, he seems to get over one thing then develop something else :(

I can sympathise that's for sure but just think how much experience they are giving you, to be honest I think they are just trying to help you in the career front :))!

Hope Jeff gets better soon and it's just a 'simple' vet visit if there is such a thing! x

Well no vet appointments today, so booked in tomorrow. I think he's fine. Was first out for feeding this morning anyway! Had my stethoscope out and his chest is clear so its probably more that he's got some hay somewhere or dust or something.

they certainly do make you worry a lot.

So far its only the dog in my house, but I am sure once she is doing well one or some of the pigs will join in.

Hugs to jeff and all of them

Paddy has his post-poisoning blood test on Monday but I'm trying to ignore that!

Yep,your pigs definately want to make sure you are going to end up one heck of an experienced exotic vet:Ayociexp121:

Well, Jeffrey must have been reading the forum again! He's absolutely fine this morning, after a huge coughing fit last night (pig coughs are the cutest!) so cancelled the vet appointment :D
