Junior Guinea Pig
So, Burt has been to the vets already over this (very cavvy savvy) and had a thorough check, and I have had a PM from Debbie at the sanctuary, but still feeling a bit stumped!
Burt has recently, over the past few months, started getting things stuck in between his teeth, e.g. bits of wood, little nibble sticks, even pieces of hay.
Sometimes he can get them out himself, but sometimes we have to help him.
It's quite scary when it happens (I would say twice a week) although he does let us help him, and we have removed lots from his cage to try and reduce the incidents.
He's going back to the vets soonish for a check up after his new diet (see other thread) due to overgrown back teeth, but the vet said his front teeth were absolutely fine.
The only thing we can think of is that he has taken to chewing his cage bars ever since Clive was ill and getting lots of attention earlier in the year - could this have caused gappier teeth? (I read once their teeth are quite flexible) If we can stop him chewing the bars will it stop? (we have put some clear plastic around the worst chewing places.)
Any thoughts welcome, thank you.
