Bernie keeps headbutting the top of the doorway to his carrot cottage, in order to get noticed faster when it's veg time, he does it very hard, it flips it over. Is he crazy?

You noticed, it works, so no he's probably not crazy.
Spike headbutts his cage furniture when he is in a strop, which is often. When I clean them out I deliberately put things back 'wrong', re-arranging the cage keeps him amused for sometime.

My boy Finn does more silly things than Lara.
He headbutts toys he doesn’t approve of and tosses around toilet paper rolls to find goodies inside.
I put his pellets and snacks inside the toilet paper roll and put hay on each end. He finds his favorite pellets inside the paper roll by tossing it around and taking out the hay from each end. How he gets to his snack is pretty funny though.

While my Finn tosses his T-paper roll like a professional ball player to get his snacks, Lara on the other hand is way too proper and ladylike to be bothered by T-paper roll tossing. She doesn't even play with T-paper roll and never even touches it.

LOL... my pigs will turtle-walk with the favorite hidey on top of them so they don't give up prime space when they walk. Occasionally this leads to the whole thing flipping over and two unhappy pigs wishing they had opposable thumbs so they could fix things! I think he's just doing a good job of getting your attention!

My gizmo knows when its dinner time and starts a full on prison break routine he bites the bars of his cage like something possessed

My boy Finn bites bars to his cage also. I move him to his sun room or his sun cage near the window so he can enjoy the sun, then I put him back to his cage when the sun goes down.
Lara Doesn’t bite the bars of her cage. The only time I see her biting bars is when I sit next to her feeding her snacks. She hides when she is put near the window for viewing the sun but she still does what Finn does. She is never left out of activities Finn enjoys doing.
Lara has many dolls nearly her size and she drags her dolls around her cage and sometimes puts them in her hidy to sleep together. Both Finn and Lara have different favorite toys and different activities they enjoy.
