My girls are currently on P@H pellets but I'd like to wean them off it because it will be easier for me to get hold of other brands.

Has anyone tried Mr Johnson's? The sell it in Wilkos over the road from my work, so I would be very easy for me to buy. It's 6 years since I've fed guinea pigs and everything seems different now!

Our piggies love Harringtons and you can get this from ASDA also, Burgess are another good quality pellet.

To swap over dry food it is a good idea to mix in the new with the old and decrease the old brand bit by bit.

Asda and Tesco do their own pellet food which is cheap and my piggies love the one from Tesco. Just be aware that changing from pellets may cause them to selective feed which is sometimes not good for them as they don't get the full nutrition that they need.

I use Mr Johnsons and my girls love it. I weaned them from burgess to Johnsons and they didn't seem to mind. At £3.79 a bag I can't moan lol x

I have seen Mr Johnson's advertised on the back of Guinea Pig magazine. It contains Verm-X, a mix of herbs to aid digestion. They do pellets as well as muesli.
I feed Harrington's mostly, although two of my 8 piggies still eat Excel.

Oh good, I'll give it ago. I still have some P@H pellets left so I'll get a bag and start mixing!

I didn't even consider Adsa tbh... it just seems to be cat and dog stuff, with a teeny but of bird seed in our Asda.

Mine love Mr. Johnson's, it's good quality and goes down very well with my 4. And they are picky!

I thought I'd try mine with Mr Johnson's so have ordered a 1.5 kg bag (£3.25) from Fetch.co.uk. Also ordered a 350 gm bag of Science Selective (£1.14) . My late Sophie used to like the SS.
I will let you know how we get on.:tu:

IN case you're interested; Fetch.co.uk are part of the Ocado supermarket chain.
Delivery for first order free if over £10, and 1 hour delivery slots. No waiting in all day.:yahoo:

I'll be getting mine tomorrow. So far their haven't been picky with their fruit and veg so fingers crossed they'll eat their new food.

They were picky with their hay mind. They hardly ate any Timothy hay that came with them from P@H. They wouldn't even use it in their litter tray. I got some meadow hay to see if they'd use that and yes, they are munching away from their hay rack, and eating and pooing in their litter tray. I might try and mix the two cause I still have a bag and half of Timothy hay left.

My pigs hate P@H hay. They go for either wilkos meadow hay or the Timothy hay with dandelions from B&M x

@missljay I thought they'd have eaten the P@H hay cause I presume that's what they were fed when they lived there. Strange piggies. I'll try the wilkos one next time. That's where I got the meadow hay from. I didn't see any hay in our B&M but I shall have another look.

My first 2 piggies were adopted from P@H. God knows what they ate but they never took to any of their own brand hays. B&M are a favourite in my house, meadow hay especially x

I get my hay from either home bargains 3kg bale for 3.49 which they loved. But I now get pure pastures maxi bale hay which I buy from the range for 3.50 for a 4kg bag. this hay is really really good quality and my pigs go absolutely frantic for it when I put it in the hutch. You could also try readi grass as a supplement to the hay which can be given as a treat couple of times a week. It's basically freeze dried grass so it can't fail to impress even the fussiest eaters.

:DI got my bags of Science Selective pellets and Mr Johnson's pellets today. I put a very small amount of the SS on the floor of their quarters for them all to try. I can't say that they have been a resounding success.:td: Although some have been eaten, there are still some left on the floor. Everybody except Swan, my youngest, has tried them.:vom: I will try them with the Mr Johnson's tomorrow.

I used it with my first piggies who lived to 4.5. I use a lower calcium food with my current boys :)

They'e been eating them thankfully. They seem to take them from their bowl and eat them in their log tunnel... which makes a crumbly mess but never mind!
