Teenage Guinea Pig
my pets at home quoted me 64 per pig and my vets originally quoted me around 80 per pig but last time i asked it had come down a bit
Thanks Bekki, glad I haven't confused anyone.i think Lydia is referring to her post where she has a quote from other members but hasnt actually type anything, I assume that was purely accidental rather than an issue with your post Christine :-)
lydiaMinx, can I ask which vet you've been recommended?
When one of ours was poorly we took him to our usual pet vet (never had a single problem with the cats/dog with them) but she didn't listen to the piggies chest so he went with undiagnosed pneumonia for 4 days :-( Wouldn't take a piggie back there now, even tho their neutering price was £36! .
We went to Trinity in Maidstone who were brilliant, but it's a bit of a trek! (they quoted us £64 I think for neutering).
Just a word with regards to price...you largely get what you pay for. With the cheaper surgeries are you getting specialist after care (do they have nurses trained in exotics care), what level of staffing do they have? If they don't have many nurses, is your animal going to be left unattended while the nurse does the next op? More care = higher overheads (staffing costs etc) = more expensive
Sorry if I've missed it, but what's your reason for neutering?
My boars have fallen out basically, they won't share living space so I was planning to neuter and pair them with sows as soon as I could, but I've come to terms with the fact I don't really have the money to do everything needed for this just yet![]()
Have you looked into boar dating? It'd save the need for neutering
