Does Anyone Know Anything About This Hay?

Ah ok, thanks @PiggyOwner I'm just struggling with hay again, the last batch I got I thought looked ok, but the guinea's don't seem to be very keen on it :(

I know- hay can be so variable & I like to have a few different brands in stock.

I've bought a few dubious batches - but have always got a refund if I've taken them back.

I used to get this from the range all the time but stopped as it's been really poor quality. I found a dead bird in one, so swapped it for another bag, only to find a big pile of feathers in the new one.

The hay itself I've found is very coarse now and contains a lot of big sticks and jaggy bits whereas it used to be very soft. It may just be a bad batch but I've switched over to B&Ms meadow hay, same size bag for the same price and I've found that much softer.

Ew ok thanks for letting me know @Beans&Toast :)
Like it say it could just be a bad batch but I've stopped buying it for now.

B&M also do a smaller bag of Timothy Hay with dandelions in it. Again, I used to buy it from the Range but have found it very jaggy lately. I've found a slightly different version (different supplier also) from B&M and it's very soft, no jaggy bits or sticks so far and the pigs love it.

This is the one from B&M it's around £2.49

mine like the "5 a day " hay from The Range . It''s a small bag - but nice to have in for a treat. I also get the Oxbow Orchard Grass hay from the hay experts - it''s not cheap so, this is a " treat hay " too .

My favourite hay is the INGS hay from hay 4 pets. I know some members have had some duff batches but I still like it. I wasn't happy with one batch and they replaced it.

Ahh really? I didn't know they did that. Thanks @PiggyOwner I might just try ordering Ings again and see what this batch is like. She said she was bagging some softer hay on Monday.

It is small, but as it's got quite a few dandelions in it I don't use much, just a handful mixed in with their normal hay :D

Don't know about the hay but good company to deal with. I get megazorb from them. they do whack a 'bulk delivery charge' on the megazorb but with regard to speed of delivery, they are good

I had to stop buying any hay from the range which is a shame, some of it was nice, especially the timothy hay! But Bramble was diagnosed with a hay allergy which, once I switched off of the range hay stopped completely..

I've been going to Just for Pets and for just over £4 I can get a bag of hay almost half as tall as I am! It lasts ages too considering I use it as both bedding and food, must be at least a month since I bought it and it's still half full.

My girls are incredibly fussy, they only really seem to like the hay from Wilkos, pretty good value and smells delightful. I've also noticed that the hay strands are quite long compared to other brands I've had so that's good. Timothy hay for the hay reach and the bigger bale of Meadow hay for the trays.

It's also handy that you can order online and get it delivered as I can stock up!

My guineas love this hay although we did notice at different times of the year it can be more twiggy if that makes sense?

l tried it on my guys, its not bad but there are others that are far better
