Does Anyone Know The Dose For Metacam?

I would still use meadow hay for bedding; the difference in calcium is not all that great.

The grumpiness could be rather down to being in season or having hormonal issues.

I did wonder if all the changes and the attention Honey (top Pig I think) has got may have shook them up - plus her being ill... I worry about having three as it always seems as if one is left out. Lola was in season the week before last

So it would ok to use meadow hay ....hmmm. They do like the Timothy hay luckily.

Great they love the Bunny. Mine love it too, especially Fuzzy who would eat the lot if she could.

How about Fitch? www.fitchrecycling.co.uk[/QUOTE]
I was worried (shocking I know all I do is worry !) about them not liking Bunny but Abby couldn't get it down her neck quick enough!
I think what I might do is try fitch and maybe go to meadow hay/fitch once I am happy Honey has been exposed to low levels of calcium for a while. She is still drinking a lot of water and I don't know if this makes sense but I would like to flush out her bladder....
Thanks again
PS = could the title of this be changed to some thing like High Levels of Calcium in Urine and possible treatment

I would rather recommend to start a new thread, as it will attract more attention from people with personal experiences.

Just wanted to do a little update :)

So the results were lots of calcium in Honey's bladder which was making it painful to wee. This is what I have done to help.

1.I have cut out spinach and kale completely.

2.I have started to filter their water (!)

3. They now have timothy hay as it is lower in calcium(and no more readi grass as I can't get a clear idea re calcium)

4. Also fed them the "bunny" pellets from zooplus (link above) mixed in with excel - they LOVE them!

5. For another week the only veg they are getting is baby corn, celery, pepper, tomatoes(baby ones) and cucumber. I will introduce other lower calcium

Honey gets 2 mls of metacam every day and no longer squeaks.

Two problems

1. what do I bed them on now? Timothy hay is too expensive to use as a bedding?
2. Lola and Honey seem to be very grumpy with each other.

Thank you ALL so much for being here your knowledge and advice have been so helpful

Just a thought, has the vet recommended 2mls of Metacam as it seems a bit high in dose. My guinea pig is 1150g was put on 0.4ml per day and the vet said that should he need more he could have that doubled for the day, on occasion. However, this is only 0.8ml and just thought 2mls seems a bit high. Is this a vet recommended dose?

Sorry, total school girl error, I should have written 0.02!

(it is cat Metacam)
