I am basically looking to figure out what grass species is in the picture, as thats the one I would like to grow as it's everyones favourite. I'm planning on growing grass for the pigs this year so there is less arguing over the lawn and how often it's cut etc ive got Italian ryegrass and oat grass seeds ready to go, but id also like this stuff. While this is only a few houses down from me, its a council owned nature route heavily used by this estates dog population and I'm not entirely sure how id clean it, or if it is treated with anything if I just collected it from there (nor did I have the sense to grab some seed heads from it a few months ago..)

So yeah, if anyones got any ideas what species this is, id be grateful!

That's the grass mine like. It grows down the road on some rough ground. People don't walk dogs there because you have to go up a bank and through a ditch to get to it. Good job I'm still quite nimble - the things I do for piggys! I'm going to make a note of that name so I can get some seeds too.

I bought some in B&Q for a patch of waste ground behind the shed, it's just normal hard wearing lawn grass. I put some in trays to. I won't feed this until the autumn probably as I'm worried it may have some fertaliser mixed with it, that will wear off after a summer of trims and rain. I was going to google suppliers of -foot but I haven't got round to it yet!
