Does anyone's guinea lick?

My guinea has started licking my hands a lot, I'm told it's because they like the salt on our skin but I'm also told it's an affection thing, any offers?

(I'm hoping it's the affection thing :) )

Pepper is a proper licker, she even 'kisses' my mouth! I can hear you all............... but It's soooooooo sweet!
 
Sid does that to me too! It's amazing when it's year own pet but someone else and you'd be like Ewwwwww! He licks my nose too bless :smitten:

Aww I know, I love it when I get him out of his cage and he pushes himself out long and purrs until i cuddle him! HE never ceases to amaze me :)

my peruvian (13 weeks) licks my hand and arm for aggggggeeessss,
he started after about a week and he won't lick my mum or any of my friends
he even runs up and sits on my ear when I'm laying down like a adorable little smiley ear muff
he's the only one that actualy dive-bombs into my side when he's scared; the other 2 (brothers, about 10 monthish [i got them at 6-7 months]) just wander off bubbling and rumbling
& he's the only one to actualy lye down and relax on me
the others can't stand being still for longer than 3 minutes, they're still lovely and cuddley while it lasts though bless them :smitten:

neither of mine purr, i only heard a proper purr the first hour I brought my 1st piggiies home
maybe they're never comfortable enough :-\
 
Aww I'm sure they will purr in time! Sid purr's when I tickle his bum and when I put music on (mostly acoustic or piano soft songs) hes a fussy !

year piggies sound great! Wandering off together hehe :)

I get biting when I pick them up but plenty of licking when they're in my lap! :smitten:

It's a lovely feeling, their tongues are soooo cute! you just don't want them to stop :) :smitten:
 
heehee isn't is so cute. My eddie does it all the time.I had read somewhere about the salt thing, but kinda glad it's also for affection.

Duke used to when he was younger, tends not too now, but if i have cucumber juice on my fingers, he tries to bite it then realises it's me and so he licks instead :smitten:
 
My piggies lick me..but then they get carried anyway and try to bite me ::) Doesn't really hurt though.

Scamper loves licking my seven-year-old's arms and hands when she is being cuddled on his lap. She seems very content to sit on his lap - she always wants to escape from mine!

Same thing with Cindy ;D But Cindy gets sick of licking and chews instead ;D
But Wilson doesnt lick... luckily he doesnt bite either ;D

My guinea pigs (bumble rimmer and hamish) they all lick me when i stroke them. My mum told me that it's because they trust me and love me lol
 
Yer... I think its a bonding thing :)

Ive had CIndy for a few months and she does it all the time and Ive had Wilson for a year and he has never done it...
 
Well after all this...Simba licked my arm a few times earlier when I puit his water bottle in!
 
Cindy never used to lick me, then one day I put some honey on my finger ::) and she thought that was yummy ;D But Wilson still doesnt lick with the honey :(
 
Ruby licks us all the time and she has been known to do a bit of "grooming" on the hairs on my arms (not that they are that hairy I hasten to add ;D ;D).
