Does baytril taste awful?

Jezzy floof has been prescribed baytril for a week as she seems to have a monit bacterial infection in her bum floof skin where she's scratched at some dry flaky skin... does it taste really vile? I had to get my lovely floof girl in a bit of a headlock to make her take it then she pawed at the syringe and tried pull away... its only 0.4mls but she wasnt having it, 0.25mls went it her mouth and she swallowed it but the rest went on her fur and my jumper... she normally licks anything put anywhere near her face and she's a very good girl, just not with baytril...
 
Yes I believe it does. Bracken hated it but he was also on Metacam which he loves, he soon caught on that he got Metacam once he'd swallowed the Baytril!
 
I had to bribe her with 2 carrot slices and she still looked betrayed by her piggy slave! Glad she only has it once a day for a week...
 
Hideous, I am reliably informed. I had to wrap poor Silk in a tight towel sausage and wedge her under my arm.

Lots of encouragement when you do get it in makes next time a bit easier though, I found.
 
Yeah, it's gross. I've ended up tasting it and it is vile.

Whenever I have to give Baytril I either follow it up with a syringe of water or dip the syringe in something they like first to trick them into taking it.

I've noticed that some pigs won't eat immediately after having it, I think it's because the awful taste is still in their mouth so I try to get rid of it for them.
 
Yuck just kissed Jezzy on her lovely floof nose because she was such a good girl being forced to swallow the baytril and... yuck yuck yuck it has a weird bitter/funky chemical aftertaste that gets stronger and stronger and makes your mouth dry... I only accidentally tasted a droplet off my favourite floof lady's whiskers and blargh! Poor piggies that's nasty...
 
Glad its Jezzy's last couple of baytril days, first day she took it unsuspecting with no bribe... second day the carrot slice bribe pictured in the advent calendar... day 3, and 2 carrot were slices needed... day 4 and 5 it was getting on for half a carrot... tonight an entire new carrot cottage was needed as a reward as it really was a wrestling match, she's very strong and got very very upset and was thrashing her head about and I was so worried about hurting my lovely gentle floof girl holding her still! She's sulking in a new carrot cottage filled with coriander and eating it from the inside to take the taste away poor floof... vets tomorrow :)

It’s no fun for you either trying to get her to take it.
Hope it’s done the job though.
