Does flash hurt?

Hello please can guinea pig owners reply to this ASAP as i love taking pics of my pigs. Does flash hurt there eyes? guinea pigs eyes i have taken about 3 pics with flash but i havent done it anymore as it may hurt there eyes because when we take pics with flash we always get red eyes on the pics and thats what happend to the guinea pig pics so does it hurt them? if it does i wont do it anymore. I just wanted to know as i am going to be taking lots more pictures soon .

Do you not have the facility to select no red eye on your camera? it's usually in the flash mode function, that will eliminate redeye.

I wouldn't have thought the flash would hurt unless you are very very close when it goes off, then it may make them see spots like it does to us if its to close.
 
Photos in natural light is the ideal; if you can avoid flash then do. I don't think flash hurts their eyes but it's not very pleasant if it happens more than a few times in a row. Flash in moderation is the best thing!
