Yesterday I had to open a bag of pet shop hay because my haybox hay took a while to come. Then this morning my haybox order came. I've only used a little bit of the pet shop hay so could I save it as emergency hay for the future or will it go stale/go off?
Thanks in advance :)

I think as long as it’s kept dry and stored somewhere cool(ish) it should be okay.

I'm glad I asked I was going to keep it in it's plastic bag. What do you mean by a paper shopping bag?

What I would say is that it does dry out and loose colour (and I assume flavour) over time.
Personally rather than waste it I would just mix it in with your Haybox hay for now.
I always give my piggies a mix of different hays.

That's what I've done before when I've got the timing of the delivery wrong but I thought I should keep some so I don't have to rush out to buy some if it happens again. Does it take very long for hay to go brown?
