Does Herbie need a friend?

Since rehoming Herbie on Saturday, as much as I keep saying it, he loves my company and attention, he sits there chattering away at me and its soooo nice and relaxing :)) however I am conscious that he might need a friend.

However P@H said he had been kept on his own the last three months? and I reckon he got alot of attention, hence why he is so good now.

I am umming and arring whether to get him cut and put him in with Pudding and Mischief, but i dont want their nervousness to affect him and I loose the bond we have already. :red
 
hiya - as i understand it all piggies need company of their own kind and no matter how much attention you give them you cannot be there 24/7 and it must be like being stuck inside with noone to talk to all day. :(

I've only been a piggy owner for 10 days and my little boar is very quiet and although he eats and poops ok and i scratch his ears and fuss him, when he goes and sits in his little basket he looks so sad and i've been trying to find him a suitable friend :)

P@H told me he would be fine on his own and in my naivety i believed them, but I have learnt such a lot this last week and tomorrow i am introducing him to a baby to see how they get on, hopefully Mungo will cheer up a bit and with a bit of luck will find his squeak, ;)
 
I only had one pig, called Holly, that would not live with either boars or sows. She hurt them, so she lived alone and quite happily until the age of nearly six years old, passing away only a few weeks back.

Apart from that, I reckon all of my piggies over the 17 years of owning gps preferred, and flourished on living with one, two or more friends.

All piggies have personalities just like us humans, I guess. There can be personality clashes but most, if introduced gradually, and on neutral territory are acceptable and welcoming of company.
 
I just want to encourage you by saying how much happier my piggy is since his friend arrived yesterday, he hasn't stopped making little noises, he's popcorned all round his cage and even in his bed and his house so he banged his head mallethead and still he hasn't stopped! I added an extra bed so they could have their own space but my husband came down to have a peek at them and they were both squeezed into one bed...bless! I am so happy he has a friend and they are just so adorable to watch x)x)x)
 
Toby has been alone for like three years and he hasnt even met Hieidi yet but he hears her squeak and since she's came he actually does seem happier which just goes to show!

Get him a little buddy :)
