Does my Guinea Pig have lice?

Hello,

We spotted some small yellowish insects/parasites crawling around one of our guinea pigs necks We suspect they may be lice after reading this article: Guinea Lynx :: Lice

We are hoping someone can confirm that they are indeed lice.

You will need to take your piggy to the vet for actual confirmation lice/type. Pet shop medicines aren’t good enough so if they are indeed lice then you will need to be prescribed the appropriate treatment by a vet.

Definitely have a vet check, the vet can diagnose then prescribe a high strength insecticide treatment like Xeno450 if needed.

Oh, I’ve never seen lice before, aren’t they lively! Thanks for the video it’s always helpful! So sorry but it looks like a trip to the vets. Best to get rid of these things fast

Don’t worry if they are, it clears up quickly once treated. Our boys had them and used to hide in my hair!
