I got a new hay packet from the garage and it looked dry and a little yellowish. Just wanted to know if it is mouldy or bad for piggies.

It was a difficult season for hay last year so it hasn't been the best quality. Does it smell musty and horrible or does it smell sweet? If it smells musty then don't give it to your piggies. If it smells sweet then it's OK.

Thats how my oxbow hay looks, although its a little greener than yours. My hay smells fresh and sweet so i give it to my pigs and they eat it no problem. If it doesnt smell fresh and sweet then dont give it to your pigs.

I agree with the above advise. It looks fine to me if a little straw like but if it smells fresh and sweet it’s fine to feed but if it smells musty, I wouldn’t feed

Last year’s hay harvest in the UK was affected by the unseasonably long hot summer so I have had several bags that look like that. The piggies might like it less than other bags but they do eat it and none have suffered ill effects so I guess it’s ok.

This has me wondering, if they put expiration dates on the bags...?
